What’s Next?

While the COVID-19 pandemic continues to hang on, its significant impact on so many various facets of life over the last 18 months has naturally sparked the issue of what lies ahead, what is next-for individuals, companies and the consumer-packaged goods industry.

These unprecedented times are a serious concern for the retail business as a whole, as well as the supplies community that supports it, both in the short and long term. The Emerson Group gathered a renowned lineup of experts and executives from a number of the main players across all major channels, as well as the CPG industry both virtually and in person to breakdown the answers to these pressing questions.

As in previous years, the Emerson Industry Day program consisted of presentations, interviews and panel discussions on a variety of topics all keyed to the event’s them, “What’s Next?” This year featured a remarkable roster of speakers both within and outside the industry, including, for example Scott Galloway, professor of marketing at the Stern School of Business as New York University, Eric Termuende, globally recognized key note speaker and best selling author, Bryan Gildenberg of Omnicom Commerce Group, Jocko Willink, retired U.S. Navy Seal, author, podcaster and founder of Jocko Fuel, and Jennifer Doudna, a Nobel Prize co-winner and biochemist at the University of California, Berkley. In addition to these exceptional speakers there was also discussions of leadership with featured executives from major suppliers such as Unilever, Johnson & Johnson, GlaxoSmithKline PLC and Proctor & Gamble Co. Wendy Liebmann, CEO and chief shopper of WSL Marketing Inc., hosted and moderated a Live Shopper Focus Group, and Scott Melville, President and CEO of Consumer Healthcare Products Association hosted a panel with some of the biggest manufactures in the industry to get their perspective on what they predict is next.
